Auditor General's Findings

The Auditor General’s 2017/2018 Annual Report informed that at March 31, 2016, the Accountant General’s Department (AcGD) did not meet the requirement of the FAA Act for timely submission of Appropriation Accounts.

Up to the time of reporting, Appropriation Accounts for the AcGD, Pension and Public Debt for the financial years 2010/2011 to 2017/2018 related to approved budget of $1.04 billion had not been submitted for certification.

According to the AuGD, the non-submission of the Appropriation Accounts inhibits Parliament effective review of the financial records pertaining to the Public Debt and Pension Payments. The AcGD was cited for regulatory breach of submission of Appropriation Accounts in the 2016/2017 Audit query.
